About HHGSHHGS is short for Handelshögskolans i Göteborg Studentkår (the Student Association of the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg). At the moment we have about 3000 members, all of which represent the different areas of studies given at the school, ranging from business and economics, to law and environmental studies. HHGS is a non-political, non-profit association, built up around three main areas of interest; corporate relations, student relations and education. The everyday work is led by the Executive Board which, in turn, reports to the Board of HHGS. The Board is in charge of the more strategic work as well as the planning for the future. The Executive board consists of the President and the Vice President of the association, as well as the heads of the seven committees that make up the organisation; the Committee on Business Relations, the Committee on Student Politics and Student Society, the Marketing Committee, the Administration Committee, the International Committee, the Committee on Events, and the Committee on Education. The members of both the Board and the Executive board are elected at elections held during the autumn term every year. All HHGS members have the right to vote (for more information about the annual elections, see p. X). Within HHGS there are many different societies and projects for which the committees are responsible. So for example is the Marketing Committee responsible for our newspaper EKON, and the Committee of Events is in charge of our pub and the people working there. It is however worth mentioning that the main part of all societies responds to the Committee on Student Politics and Student Society. Education monitoring is perhaps the most important task for HHGS and it is also stated by Swedish law that this is our responsibility. By conducting wide education monitoring, we make sure that we do everything we can to be able to offer the students at the School of Business, Economics and Law the best education possible. We keep a constant dialogue with both the students and the school, as to make sure that the opinions of our students reach the right persons. HHGS also does all it can to help individual students with problems relating to the education. By engaging in HHGS you will create a huge network while hopefully having the time of your life, not to forget the extent to which you will grow as a person. Everyone is welcome to join the association and in doing so, become a part of the great process of developing the organisation further.
